Just got off the phone with Cameta. Great folks! I was on hold for about two seconds and they helped me out right away.

My order will be shipped out tomorrow UPS ground, so I doubt I will get it until next Monday, but that's OK as I still haven't sold the 18-55mm IS and I still love that lens!

Geez though, I can't wait to play with this one with the dogs!!!!

I have added Cameta to my mental list of retailers that I would easily do business with again in the future. I made a couple of 'test calls' to them while waiting for my 24-60mm and they were johnny on the spot answering the phone and my questions re: my order.

That was my experience. I called to just talk to someone and get an idea if it was some guy's cell phone in the back of his van or a real shop. They were a bit rushed on the phone, but overall pleasant and informative.

I took my lens to:

Camera Repair Japan
3435 Breckinridge Blvd, Suite 130
Duluth, GA 30096

on the 20th of March.

Late last week I got a letter in the mail from them telling me that they couldn't fix it and if I did not contact them in three days they would send it to the manufacturer. I called after hours and left a message telling them to ship it as soon as possible.

I asked them to call me after they tested it... they didn't.
It would have made more sense to call me to see if I wanted to send it to Sigma instead of wasting time mailing me a letter.
Who knows if they even checked thier messages; with any luck Sigma at least has it by now.

So, my plan to hand deliver the lens to a local service center backfired on me.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like the way it should be handled at all to me. Hopefully they get you straightened out in Japan, you should have a heck of a lens when it gets back. If I need Sigma service, I think I'll send mine elsewhere.

It's a good lens, AF is actually pretty decent.

Well I broke down and bought one off amazon yesterday ($219).

In my hunt for a cheap f/2.8 lens this was the most affordable by far (comparing to the tamron 28-75, 17-50, Sigma 24-70 and 18-55 f/2.8).

Can't wait to get it!

Canon 60D, 30D
Tamron 28-75 2.8, Tamron 17-35, Sigma 50mm 1.4, Canon 85mm 1.8

This was my philosphy exactly! Plus the images on here looks just as good as all the ones listed above... maybe with exception of the 17-50, but VERY close!

Anyone have any experience (or sample shots that they can post) of this lens being used for architectural photos?

I believe it was taken at a slight up-angle. It looks normal to me, but I'm no expert.

I like.

You can always use the perspective correction feature in Photoshop if you like hard right angles.

Placing order now... This 23 page thread sealed the deal...

Looks like it will be a more permanent mount on my camera. Retire the kit lens to the bag ;)

Keep that kit lens until you get something wide though!

Oh yes. I am a dork... I carry a large back with all 3 of my lens and then I will take off the 18-55 and mount the 24-60. It will be close by if I need it.

I would like to next get a sharp super wide, something like the Tokina 12-24 and then can retire the 18-55 for good ;)

Would you all "PUL-EEEZ" stop buying this lens... ;)

Everytime I check Cametta on eBay, the 24-60s I'm watching keep getting sold.

I know its you! :)

I still have not found a local buyer for my 17-85...

So damnit, save a 24-60 for me, would ya? :p
