Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions regarding the 40d.

When you turn on/off the camera and the sensor cleaner does its thing, do you feel/hear the vibrating (like on the XTi/400d)? If so, I think mine is not working properly since I don't hear it or feel it.

Also, on my 30D, I set it up so that I would press the "*" button to focus. Did Canon put that extra button on the 40D to serve the same purpose?

Thanks in advance.

1) I thought the same thing, when turning your camera on or off, it should make NO sound.

2) I use the AF-ON button to focus. You can change your custom functions to make the * do the focusing.

Hope this helps..

I can hear my cameras, 40D included, when they clean. It's faint, but it's there.

I suspect whether you can hear what I understand is an ultrasonic 'whine' will depend on your age ~ sadly for me hearing such (very) high frequencies are a thing of the past ;)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Physically shaking the low-pass filter is part of the process. That was what I suspected I was hearing. I'm sure I wasn't hearing anything ultrasonic, though.
