I bought a book the other day, "Photographing People", published by RotoVision.

It has double-page spreads with a photo on the right page,
and a diagram and explanation of the lighting setup - film/camera/lighting/exposure settings - on the left page, along with comments from the photographer.

Being new to shooting people, this is exactly the sort of book I can learn from. It's a bit like "Light: Science and Magic", but it contains real people, like Christopher Ecclestone, Mel Brookes, Rutger Hauer, Claudia Schiffer, Tim Roth, as opposed to line drawings in the 'science & magic' book.

I've also ordered another book from Amazon which is relatively new - I'm not sure it's hit the FAQ here yet (maybe its rubbish) but the reviews look good - it's "The best of wedding photojournalism: techniques and images from the pros" (external link). Anyone else read it?

"yeah I've read it"

According to my book thread I thought it was an "Excellent book with a viewpoint photographers should know about". I haven't seen it in over a year (it's in a box somewhere), but I should drag all these books out and re-read them some time.

That's plenty recommendation for me.
I'm looking forward to reading it - when they (amazon) get it back in stock!

Cheers!
Dave
