Digital Print Lab questions.

I've never used a digital print lab in the past, actually I've never printed any pictures from my Canon as of yet. So I have a few questions.

What are the formatting standards I should use when sending my digital pictures to an online print lab? Such as, what DPI, 72, 300, 600? What file type, JPG, Raw, BMP?

If I have done my PP to the way I want it to look should I still have them do their color correction? (Note, my monitor is not calibrated)

What else should I know?

I know there are a lot of pro's here and I hope you choose to shed some light for an amatrur who wants to learn.

You should ask the lab directly about resolution and file format. I send high-quality jpegs at 250ppi to my lab.

Please please PLEASE invest in a monitor calibrator. They're not too expensive, and it will save you a world of grief.

I would recommend "no" to letting the lab do colour correction. Better if you have complete control over your images. But as I said, that's very dependant on having correct calibration.

I signed up for Mpix and ordered some 5x7 and 8x10 prints to see how they turn out. They should be here Friday or Saturday. I'll let you know.

Anyone with advice on monitor calibration? Or more thought on the first set?
