The cheapest I seem to be able to find one for in the UK is £293.00 which is about $600.00. whereas $450 is about £219. Wish I could get it for that here. Do you folks in the US have to pay extra taxes and stuff on those prices?

Sales taxes vary by state and are added to the advertised price, anywhere from 0 to 10%. So the total price one pays in the US varies a little bit between states. It gets complicated if you buy online, though. Whether the online vendor charges sales tax depends on what presence it has in the state. For example, if you buy online and the vendor has a "brick and mortar" business in the state, you are charged sales tax. But in other instances, when the vendor does not have a business in-state, sales taxes are not charged. This varies quite a bit... the rules are somewhat complicated so many people have trouble following them. If I was to buy a G9 from Amazon, for example, I would not pay state sales tax, but if I went to B&H in NYC, I would pay tax.

At least we don't have the stupid VAT like Europe has, though.

yea we've had VAT for ages now but every time I buy something it still makes me cringe that I'm paying 17.5% extra to the government just for the privilege.
