You're clearly missing something..!

;)

Sorry but in my monitor the second set looks much crisper. Could be the dell laptop I am on.

I had to agree with stathunter. My first impression when looking through the pics was that the 5d was a little sharper. But I think that the OP explained already that the shutter speeds may have been a little low given the increased focal length.

At least I think that is what it was.
I definitely will say I didn't give the 40D a fair shake given these "issues" I had that day.

You can clearly see that the bird shot was crisp. I had plenty of light, used plenty fast enough shutter speed and ISO 100.

It's just that in shaded conditions or through-the-glass types of shots from indoors I preferred the 5D's ability to "suck in" more light...plus the better noise handling.

I managed to process some more 40D shots. I didn't have too many keepers due to user error...doh!

I started to use faster and faster shutter speed (by boosting ISO) because I was no longer trusting myself with the 100-400L on the 40D. I really need to learn how to use the lens on a consistent manner! :-(

You guys be the judge!

Last few...hope it's OK...

Again, is it me or do the pics look warm? (AWB on 40D warmer than on 5D?)

These are excellent, thanks for posting them!

From what I've seen, here and other places, the 40D clearly outshines the 5D! The IQ is much better, colors more vivid, just overall a better photo!

He he...thanks...but I think with the 100-400L it's more like spray and pray for me at the moment!

Easy to look good when you put up pics here...but I've got a trash bin load worth of bad ones!:D

Really?
That's not the message I was trying to put out.
I've got to start using the 40D a little more. It gets little usage b/c it's a backup body. However, I am curious as to what it really can do as well.

One day, I need to go out shooting, and leave the 5D at home. This way I won't be forced to "revert" to the 5D like I did at the zoo!
