Why is my MK II doing this?

So I have erased, formatted and re-erased my CF card (4GB) Ultra IV card and the reading on the top still says I only have about 200 photos left before the folder is filled. I re-inserted the card into my computer and dumped all files into the trash. I then stuck the card back into the camera and had the card reformatted.

The 100 folder is completely empty. I have checked this on both the camera and the computer.

I am set on JPEG L, not raw.

The other thing is when I take a burst of photos and then erase them the top reading still says the same amount of photos that I would of had after taking the initial shots.

example I started with 225 took 10 shots and after erasing those shots it still shows I only have 215 left before the card is full.

I have taken the battery out and let the camera sit for about 5min and that didn't work.

I have a shoot tonight and I won't be able to achieve what I need in just 200 shots.

Anyone have this happen to them?

What does the capacity show on the computer (right-click, 'properties' in Windows)? Have you tried formatting it there? I format in the computer so I can assign name to my cards, and never format in the camera. I delete the numbered folders each time I download the photos.

Reset the camera counter: It's probabely at 9800 or so.

How do you reset the camera counter, I thought you couldn't do that?

And the other thing is Im using a Mac and I have deleted all the files on the computer that were in the card.

use the disk utility and erase the disk image on the card. Or you could control-click and format the disk. Either way is fine.

File counter, not shutter count
Menu > middle menu (yellow 1) > File Numbering > M-Reset

Not sure what (the relevance is of) you're saying here...

Ya, sounds like you have the 9999-10,000 images issue. Either manually reset the image counter or put that bastard on high speed burst and rap off 200 small jpegs of your favorite wall
