Some recent shots all with the 30D + 400mm f5.6 hand held.

Forgot to mention before but the Goose is suffering from 'Angel Wing' . Seems happy enough though and has recently acquired a mate.

They are all stunning shots, wonderful colours on all of them.

How on earth did you manage to get such a close shot of the goose in particular and so sharp hand held? Also the sparrowhawk shot at such close range - you are obviously a very skilled bird photographer :-)

Hi Linda, thanks for the kind comments. The Goose was at my local duck pond and there is a sunken viewing area which gives a nice low viewpoint - the shutter speed was 1/1600 sec so hand holding was fairly comfortable.
I was on my PC when I saw the Sparrowhawk on the fence eying up the sparrows, grabbed the Camera and managed a few shots through the window before it dived into the hedge after the sparrows.
