The clouds were really low hanging and the light was hitting them just right. The photo was taken with 3 exposures, the one that really grabbed the clouds was 1/50 at f/9. I used photomatix, then some curves, dodge and burn and sharpening. I didn't want it to have the overly fake look that can be caused by photomatix.

i like numbers 1, 5 & 7 - the hdr ones mostly look much too overcooked: the shadow areas should remain darker than the lit areas, the hdr processing should only add detail to those areas without removing all suggestion of light and shade completely

the back of the arch on number 5 spoils it a bit because it's too bright and saturated, but you have the balance between light and shade for the rest of that photo much better than the others

number 4 has fantastic clouds but the rest of the image looks like a computer generated martian scene (created with a 1990's computer) - i would love to see these images redone keeping the darks dark, but allowing a little detail to show: in order to give the impression we can see into the shadows

i like how in number 1 the rock stack looks like an easter island moai statue

Excellent series of pictures.Don't care how they were created, they look superb.A couple of the horizons look like they need straightning up and quite a few dust spots to tidy up though.

Cheers

I like 1 and 7. Undecided on 5 and 6 - the arch is confusing the image - keep on thinking it's pointing in a different direction to what it actually is. 2, 3 and 4 are overdone for me, especially 3 and 4.

Cheers.

Beautiful. Very well composed. I like the colors of the rocks against the sunset. Thanks for posting and I need to get out more. :)

I think they are all great. I don't think the HDR was overdone at all. Very nice work.

Really like #'s 3,4, & 5.

I was going to say that!

I think the colour ones work better than the black and white.
