VOLLEYBALL IN A SCHOOL GYM

Hi, I have a new 40D and need to shoot volleyball in a school gym and also baseball outside. This is my first digital SLR, I have never shot anything in RAW before, but I do have a Corel to convert it. Any suggestions?

Use the fastest lens you can, preferable 2.8 or better. Most focal lengths will do because you can be mobile in a high school gym. Go with a shutter speed of 1/320 or better and match the ISO to achieve this. I use aperature priority, or take a meter reading and then switch to manual with that setting and shoot with center focus. Remember to shoot a lot because the keeper rate in darker gym's is low.

My go to lenses for volleyball are the canon 85 1.2L, yes it will focus fast enough, and the 200 2.8L. I shoot RAW exclusively to adjust WB later and I use Lightroom, a program I really recommend.
