Great news. I'm looking forward to your comments on it's effectiveness (if you had problems before).

I did not have AF problems but then I have not been trying to shoot 10fps on hot days in bright sunlight (remember i'm in the UK what's sunshine)

One thing I have noticed is, it is not searching when focusing on static subjects in AI Servo which it did slightly before...

Are your CFn settings 'out of the box' or have you adjusted them at all?

Thanks

Peter, forgive me if I'm unaware, but were you having focusing issues? Will you be doing some tests to determine if it fixed anything?

Thanks,

No I was not experiencing AF issues, I was just able to take advantage of the offer of the upgrade. Only thing I have noticed so far is the slight hunting on still subjects in AI Servo has gone... Not that it was a problem but you could here the lens motor doing micro adjustments (probably down to me swaying back and forth ;) )

I have adjusted but did use out of the box when I first got it and it was OK.

Interesting Pete, I wonder if you'll be able to tell any difference. Nice of the guy to do that though.

I feel for you that must use this camera for work or else and need its functionality fully working. But just as some are waiting to buy it, I am waiting before I test. (1) to make sure I get at least the 1.1.1 update (2) why send it off so soon before they even know how to fix it. So I'm in no rush to determine I need to send it off, when I'm not sure they know how to fix it or if I would need to send it back again later.

It's still one damn nice camera even for $4500

I have shot alot lately........I am so cornfused now, I don't know what an In Focus or out of focus shot is now. Let's see......In Focus but in a burst if I have some out of focus then there must be a problem, no wait, If I shoot in single shot and I have all in focus, I have a problem, no wait, if they are all out of focus and I am in AI Servo, then I have a good body? Or have we literally just mentally masturbated this subject to death!!!! Hell, we'll never know if there is a good body or a bad body, if its good, then you really don't know what an in focus shot really looks like, if its a bad body, then you don't know how to shoot and you must be an amateur. Bla bla bla ba bla.

I'm gonna wait till 1.1.1 is out than I'll perfrom my testing from there. I haven't had any issues in AI-Servo burst mode with center point. Once my testing is done, I'll probably send mine out to have it looked at and see if any adjustments are needed. Thanks for posting that info. Peter.

that gets my vote! (if you enjoy your camera you've got a good body ;) if it's not doing what you need, you may have an issue)

here is a quoted paragraph:

"Wally and others....
I am seeing a difference in using the new firmware 1.1.1.....now I am getting results much consistent to my mark II. AF is working better, and especially in the bright light. Have a look at www.paolopolla.com (external link) at the first gallery posted yesterday using new firmware.
Whilst I do get better results, I still think this can be improved as new camera should be not on par with the old one but better....
Would not be surprised we get firmware 1.1.2 over the next few weeks made public. These are just my thoughts.
In any case....1.1.1 for me is an improvement.
Also, I think the LCD is even sharper than 1.1.0....
Paolo"
