True, but some have been so insistent that there is no problem, I just think it would be ironic (perhaps not funny) if their camera were on the recall list. :)

Well if mine is i will send it in even though I have not had AF issues...... This will then help resale at a later date.......

I am hoping mine is not affected by the recall (if it happens in the UK), but I think that is a slim chance

Exactly. It seems funny that they've not sent the same internal memo to repair centers other than the U.S.

Oh, and ...

It would be even more ironic if my MkIII were on the "good" list.

Cheers

they will have to sort out the UK owners and others outside the USA or there would be an uproar over it.
if my replacement one turns out to be bad it will be going back again thats for sure .

I admire your optimism, but as usual we in the UK will just get royally stuffed. :(

Send in, don't send in, problem camera, no problem camera, I hope Canon gives a cut-off point where after such and such a date the 1D3s had the latest hardware installed anyway.

well, if you have a camera that pre-dates whatever Canon's cutoff is, and you haven't sent it in, then I would be reluctant to buy it from you secondhand, at some future date, even if you swear it's perfect. sending it in protects your resale value.

I agree and had said that a few days ago in my "long and boring post." lol

Yes Ken, I'd think it would be funny as hell if one particular person has their recalled. That person previously was in your face how theirs worked and implied you were just not using yours correctly Ken. I too have the memory from way back then! Heck, he/she wouldn't admit it anyway.

Now if Canon claims your is ok and doesn't need to be returned, is their a number we can call locally for you to be put on a suicide watch? Hehehe.

What I think I'm going to find a bit funny is the recall on those cameras that their owners have said are perfect. :)

I can't wait

Mine was purchased on 29th May which I am lead to believe was one of the first in the UK so I fully expect a recall from Canon UK about it.

I have experienced many OOF shots when covering all kinds of sport. My serial number is 503xxx can anyone tell me what these numbers signify?

Serial number and date code means nothing at this stage. Until Canon tell us what/how to check everything else is pure speculation. Nobody knows if it is all or some that need the hardware fix.
