Ah good points Barney :)

I'm generally too poor to afford magazines, being currently unemployed, plus the price of UK magazines in Australia is hideous (upwards of AU $20 isn't uncommon).

I'm committed to Canon due to the amount of gear that I have, but it's nice to see Nikon catch up to Canon, competition is always good for the consumers.

How do you really judge a camera without being able to take images? I guess it's really down to ergonomics, and what little you can judge from the LCD screen. That would realy frustrate me!

Dave

Well done Barney for stating your case.....

I must admit when I read your article I thought it was bad timing. It hit my doormat just as Canon USA had leaked the supposed cure for the AI Servo problem..... It would be great if you could pressure Canon UK for a statement though... Too late for next issue now though...

All the best

First announcements in Europe ...Canon acknowledge there is an issue with the MK III focus and have called registered customers to announce a re-call program in the UK...boy I thought it was just a US issue because we had a different plug socket and the US ran on 1110v...how wrong I was..seems like the problem is the same with 240v!!!

To think of the response we got after the US announced the issue...boy puts Canon in the Amateur support stakes as well as in Amateur photogrpaher...thank goodness for Barney he saved us all here in Blighty:-)

Now what will Canon Europe say now that Canon UK has defected???

Hi Barney,

Thanks for joining the forum,a brave and well respected move. First comment, would be thanks for sticking AF on the front page:-) Second comment that Canon media product is bad compared to Epson or Jobo, so all kudos for that one.

I have been here since 2003 and it is not a bad place to be. I also think the community here is pretty representative of the people that really know and appreciate Canon, they are very loyal and have like me probably invested over the years $10K or more in Canon equipment. Whilst you may not have been aware of the breaking news or even spilt news fron Chuk W in the US or Rob Gailbraith. What you need to help us with is a media response to your images that you sent to Canon and a review of a 'fixed' camera
would be a great asset to the magazine. As some one who appreciates the differential between a Nikon or Epson or whoever sponsored monthly, you guys could really increase uptake by having a cutting edge publication, right on the pulse of the people like the forums out there

Thanks for the comments Barney. Maybe the article has pushed Canon into coming clean sooner here, as just a week ago Canon UK were still claiming no issues.

Canon UK really aren't the best communicators around.

TBH, tommy this is likely true, as AP is a weekly, I bet they spoke to Canon about next week's Issue :), with so many people contacting Barny, he may have done us a big favour, though not speeded anything up, certainly shown some light to the end of the tunnel.
Something tells me though it is to be a long process

Well, yeah, still nothing posted on websites and no one "contacted" from the list they are taking as far as I know.

Barney, if you're listening, have you heard from Canon at all?
