It still seems to get focus.. (well, as often as a MkIII can  JOKING! )

So I think your correct about the assessment..
Was this a send to Canon repair or should I fiddle with it..
I don;t need it for a while so I think I'll wait for the recall trip and let them pay for shipping this time.

Good morning. (I know that salutory crap should be reserved for the chat threads; excuse my gaffe ;) )

So I read back a bit. Has there been any official announcement as to serial numbers, recalls, etc? I need to get mine fixed.

Not yet . . . They've said "hardware fix", and "get on the list to be called", but not when, who or how if you aren't certain. If you know you're experiencing the problem, get on the list now. One thread was suggesting it'd take 7 months (personally, I think they're over-pessimistic).

how do you get on the list?
Is there really an official list if they haven't made an official announcement?

Whether they have officially announced anything or not, this is the real deal. You'll know when you talk with them. 800-828-4040.

The email I received from Canon said to please wait until the end of Oct to receive instructions about the 1D3 AF problem recall/repair. Thank goodness that is only 3 more days.

Dude. I don't want to hear it. :) I've been waiting on a fix for this since June! Three days is nothing.

Maybe a good bit of advice would be to check our Junk Mail folders in case an email comes in and you miss it. I checked mine, but nothing.

In fact, I received no E-mail from Canon regarding the phone conversation I had , re: the recall and shipping label etc..
But I did receive the two copies of the customer service satisfaction survey... :(
Needless to say, this time the ratings were low..

SO I guess tomorrow I will have to call again and hopefully I did not lose my place in line, I was one of the first people in the US to call on that fateful night..

Nor did I. I wouldn't sweat it too much. You're a CPS member aren't you?

Same here. I got the customer satisfaction survey (twice), but no other e-mails.

Hmmm, and what date did we have for the release of 1.1.1? Lol. I'm glad they gave us an estimate, but I wouldn't, and won't, hold my breath that they make it by Wednesday for those they have notified thus far, like me. This is one canon error I won't make a big deal about, as long as they get it done by say the tenth of November. Oh, I got two customer satisfaction surveys via email, deleted both without response as I have to wait and see if the customer service call turns out to be accurate before rating it.

we are in the exact same spot Jake. i called Canon right when you did IIRC and i also didn't get any email and only got 2 copies of the Survey instead. i did fill out the survey and was very honest about what i think in the last few questions (general questions about Canon) so maybe that is why they don't call me now ;) i did however praised the service rep that i talked to about the fix and asked to forward my reply to his supervisor because he was extremely helpful and polite.
