This just in from Barney Britton/Amateur P.

"The recall is detailed in a letter sent by Canon to UK dealers which is circulating on the internet. Commenting on the letter a Canon UK spokeswoman confirmed to Amateur Photographer: 'I have seen the [Internet] link to the letter. We think it is genuine… basically there will be an official announcement out on Wednesday (Oct. 31) regarding this.'

It's unfortunate that Canon did not do this two months ago when it became evident.

Finnaly.... Not that it matters to you guys everywhere else in the world, but I have finnaly found some instances of the AF issue over here in Japan(Up until this point I could not find anything on it at all, which I found hard to believe). But, still no anouncement over here from canon...

I am just curious what type of compensation Canon plans to make with people who has taken 15,000 pictures with a faulty camera and then have to live with it for couple more months waiting in line to get fixed.

Hahahaha, compensation? You MIGHT get a "sorry" at most, and that is doubtful. And to me, no difference if one has taken 2K shots or 50K shots, both have been inconvenienced and neither deserves more than the other.

Here's a question. Do we have a choice regarding the enitre sub mirror being replaced? Or just the mirror being adjusted? I don't feel comfortable with Canon just doing an adjustment but, rather the sub mirror assembly being replaced. What do you guys think? Thanks.

They better be replacing mine!! My Camera Sucks more and more by the day. On Sunday I did a shoot at Churchill Downs and I was getting one good focussed shot out of 8 or 9 Frames. About 12% in focus.

That's sort of like asking do I get to choose a refund or exchange. The answer is no, Canon will decide what's best for you. :)

I just not to happy tbh with the fact they are pulling apart a £3k camera for me that will be about a month old, and replacing parts, it is like a new car having a new engine fitted after a month, seals being broken etc. it is never the same :(

Photographic Images on Brett Butler (external link) px500 (external link) & Flickr (external link) Some Canon Bodies , few blackish lenses, A dam heavy black one, couple dirty white ones, a 3 legged walking stick, a mono walking stick, and a bag full of rubbish

I wouldn't be quite so pessimistic. Canon replaced the entire shutter assembly in my 1DsMKIII after only 2300 shutter actuations, and it's been perfect. These guys seem to know what they're doing.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
