If they had been fixed for a month there would not be a need for a recall.

Is the recall UK only?

UK is so far the only country that have sent information out but who knows if it is worldwide when Canon is not saying anything.

OK, that's what I thought. Nothing new there, though, with Canon being silent...

I think if Canon US thought there were problems with there new stock they are sending out to there dealers they just wouldn't send them out. Doesn't though explain why Canon UK have pulled them from there dealers shelves though:confused:

Cheers

Well...here we go again. My dealer just got 5 new MKIII's in stock. One is set aside for yours truly. Do I jump now? Or should I wait some more. I am sure he has no idea if these have the proper "Sub Mirror Assembly Fix" installed....gulp....

What would you guys & gals do? I need to tell him tomorrow....

I'd wait. I think your chances of getting a good one and saving time are better if you wait and you won't have to deal with sending it back for repair (and breaking those oil seals and all that :) ).

Exactly, which is why I'd wait to find out what the deal is.

I think they're fixed at this point and have been for a month or so. They wouldn't be putting them on the shelves if they still had issues given the cost to repair. Soooo, I'd buy if you're going to anyway, with pretty high confidence it'll be okay. (And you still would have return for a bit to make sure, just in case ;-)a

There may be new units on shelves but unless you want to spend time testing and running around I would wait until something more definitive comes out.

As I write this I am putting my MKIII back into the box and back it goes this weekend for a full refund. My A1 Servo tests shows a suspected AF focus issue.

Until I know how this issue can be identified once and for all, I will not get another MKIII. My serial is 535XXX not that this matters according to some.

The ones coming into Canada were supposed to be individually tested but I doubt this very much. Now I have no body what a bummer to put it lightly.

Honestly I am fed up with the whole thing.

GB, I would ask your dealer to confirm with Canon if your MKIII is coming from the latest batch with the "Sub Mirror Assembly Fix (adjustment)" applied. If he can't do that don't buy it unless you want the hassle of sending it back to Canon service to have the "Sub Mirror Assembly Fix" checked for your piece of mind.

Cheers

What does the dealer say regarding the Hardware fix? does he know, maybe get a S/N and phone up canon see what they say?
Don't think I would get one unless I knew it had the new hardware update.
