Maybe. But, do you think that helps resale? I know if I was buying a used 1d, I'd look at the serial number range, and avoid the problem cameras. Sure, someone will buy it, but at a discount over any cameras built after October.
I already did this once. I got one of the very low serial numbers and jumped ship with a new one, selling the old one for full MSRP, back when that was a deal (took needless crap from a couple dudes here for my price :rolleyes
It would have been a great move, but as we were all yelling wolf, Canon continued the assembly line and remained quiet that there was even a problem, so almost three months into this fiasco, I bought new and still get new enough, as Canon made the decision that they would roll out the same camera and try to find a fix later, betting, I'm sure, that firmware would do it. Several here speculated well that firmware would NOT fix this issue. Oh yeah, Canon did imply over and over that it was the custom functions STUPID!
I wrote Canon last night requesting a refund and or credit towards a 1Ds M3, of course, this will be the first step of many, as at the customer rep level they won't have the juice to find out, or will simply quote current rules, or even give the same old standby, wait and see how Canon will roll out the recall. Of course we were told the recall info and the simple test would all be up by the end of October. What is today's date. Nice job Canon, you incompetents! Lots of heads should be rolling, or maybe a few knives being handed out for some people do do the honorable thing.

Peace be upon you
