Just talked with Infinity Photo in NY on their advertised price for a body only 30D for $299.00. Was told this was a wholesale model with a plastic rather than "magnesium" body. Did Canon even offer such a model?

Reseller ratings lifetime reseller rating for "InfinitiPhoto"?

0.18 out of 10!!

No disrespect intended to the OP by my comments - this business is just a bunch of scam artists, but I have to give them credit for a very entertaining story as to why their 30D is so cheap.

No - Canon did not ever offer such a model.

Photo of their storefront courtesy the great work completed by Don Wiss to photograph all the New York based photo operations. I especially appreciate the razor wire on top of the fence... :-)

Roger, the short answer is, if it looks too good to be true, it is. Don't fall for any of those scams. A new in the box 30D is going for $999 now at B&H, which is one of the better and cheaper dealers, and very dependable with a 14 day no questions asked return policy. Order from a good store. :)

Now if someone broke into that place and stole those cameras they would never be able to pass those great savings on to the customer...;)

Oh, right - I went to Enterprise Photo - guess they don't have the same plastic bodies available at all their outlets.

Yes Walt - If you look at that link to the photo of the storefront that I posted - they do business under about seven different names. Another strike against them in my book. Infiniti Photo must be their "deep discount" outlet! :-)

Yeah, and there is a link on there site that says "Come see our showroom" and the address is the one where the picture is taken on MscDonald Avenue. I think someone needs to go there and take some pictures to show us what that "showroom" looks like.
