thanks Greg! (the reason I love it, is that it's standing on it's tiptoes on one foot and hanging on with the other while it eats...just too cute :)

have fun at your theme park! Looking forward to seeing the shots!

This is a really beautiful shot Perm. I love it!

have fun at the Park Greg ;-)a

thanks, looks like a nice day;) Fine, slightly cloudy 32C (90F) and a chance of a thunderstorm this arvo. Just hope the storm is not too bad as I'm on call and will have to work if we have major damage from the storm.

Yea, I dunno if you saw or not, but I am gather information and working on writing a workflow for the avg advanced hobbyist.

I am stuck on how to go about culling and backing up. Currently, I just download and backup everything and then cull what is on my hard drive and keep everyone on the backups. The only problem with this is it makes copies and backups messing when it comes to restoring, so I don't feel it is the optimal solution. But downloading, culling and then backing up sucks because it is just an additional step, though I think it is the better solution in terms of backing up.

I'm another vote for culling before backing up. I don't see much sense in having an extra copy of a shot I would only be deleting again, anyhow.

I know that adds a step for those who use a downloader that imports from a card and backs up at the same time, but I take enough crap shots that I don't need a backup of them.

In reality, my process is to download from a card and make a copy to a second hard drive as soon as possible (typically laptop to desktop). Then I do my culling/rating/keywording and synch up the two hard drives again. During the synch, any files I deleted from one machine get deleted from the second. It's at that point that I worry about a backup to an external drive dedicated to backups and to disc.

you know what would be good, a program that can download to a folder of your choice and then once it has done that then backup the images to another location of your choice. it would even be better to be able to preview the images so you can either select the images to download, or the images required for backup.

but at this stage my backup is when I remember that I should backup

I think LR can do that, too.

Moooorning everyone!

You've all got some really beautiful shots for the book. I don't think I'll submit any as:

1/ I don't really have time to do the selection
2/ I don't feel ihave any shot really worth it. I still have much to improve to rival all your shots :o

Aftermooooon, DDA -- of course, by the time you read this, it'll be aftereeeeevening here, and moooooorning there again. ;)

I didn't submit last year for reason #2 above. I'm still not sure that I have that many potential entrants, but I do know that I feel like I have better shots this year than I would have had last year, and that's an important step.

Just so you all know it.

I am in a really meeeeean mood today  Someone at work is probably going to cost me a bonus of $4800 because of envy

That is not good. . . . I used to have some people like that at one of my former employers, and they probably did cost me some money, but never that much at any one time.

I LOVE sweet potato fries. They are my weakness. Never dipped them in green onion sauce though... sounds good!

I've helped my friend moving today, then putting together more IKEA stuff. Damn, I'm getting good at putting their stuff together. Got home and did a very quick tidying of my room as mom is coming by tomorrow. Should be sleepy now, but am not.

Not sure - downloading now. I think we confirmed (With Riley and Dan looking at them as well) - my 40D does in fact have an issue with AI-SERVO focus and panning.
