as a member of the alternative, I can say, YES it's better than the alternative.

LOL! For some reason the lawn-mowing smiley isn't showing up in my post.

For LR users....

Plugins to send your images directly to Smugmug, Zenfolio, Flicker can be found here (external link). I haven't tried these yet, but was reading about them on a lightroom forum I'm on.

I tried the 1123.3 release and still had problems (read - it didn't work) with it, but haven't tried the very latest. It was promising, in any event.

Doesn't college bite?

college is great but its soo no stop that i just dont enough time to do college shoot and get a job so i have to make a sacrifice which means money is often tight. I dont complain (as its my own choice) but i hate weighting ;)

I know, I know....I check it out regularly. He works with Art Morris. I'm determined to do a trip with one of them. I've resolved to learn and get just as good as they are (after I dug my gear out of the trash for the 3rd time.).

Keep in mind that these guys have great light and great proximity to birds. Two things that are very inconsistent for us.

yeah I do know realize that...and I'm never moving to Florida...but sheesh, I've never got anything even close to the worst of his shots. :(

Does he shoot with the 500mm or 600mm? I figure that no matter what I do, I won't have the birding gear...it's just not in the budget to spend 4 or 5K on a birding lens.

Speaking of photogs who make you want to give up, EOSAddict pointed out habakuk in another thread. Some very nice stuff -- and I think I read it was usually with his XT + Sigma 18-200 or something like that.

He was saying over on NSN that he shoots with 300 f/2.8 to 600mm f/4... whatever tool he needs for the job :-D

In addition to Florida light - they shoot at Bosque... which has some great light!

yes, I've noticed that a few people in the SMWYG contest are winning consistently with "non-pro" gear. I wonder when "skill" will be attached to my list of gear

HEY...I think wuudles is supposed to be getting her car today. Hope it all went well!

Not bad... but he should just buy a S5IS and not have to carry so much around...
