i hate flying with gear. You HAVE to stuff it ALL into carry on baggage. You just CANNOT risk your checked bags getting lost or sent to the wrong place. It happens TOO often. Make sure you also have proper insurance. You likely need separate insurance for coverage when you're on the job, and when you're in transit TO the job. If you are in places like Mexico, Jamaica, Domincan etc... then hotel room theft is common so you have to keep a hawk eye on your gear. The rooms usually have safes in them, but nowhere near large enough to hold all your gear. Unfamiliar foods also can wreak havoc on your digestive system, so you gotta be really careful on what you eat... you don't want serious stomach pains while shooting. The humidity there can be absolutely crazy. Your lenses can easily fog up. In addition to my lenses fogging up, I found even my SENSOR fogged up. I've also never had so much dust and dirt get onto my sensor EVER.
There are always expenses you will not think of that will be extra. If you charge just your fee + expenses, they'll add up fast. Quote a flat rate right up front that will comfortably pad your expenses. People really like to know a final price beforehand.
Quite honestly, those weddings are hard work, and very stressful. I much prefer close weddings. The closer to home, the BETTER imo.
