Any ideas why katzeye don't do a focusing screen for 1D's (MKIII)?

Cheers

Would you like to clean mine too? Please.

 My camera now has chalk all over the grippy part - was near Dover today, picked up some chalk, and then the camera without thinking....

Heh! My "worst" dirty 30D body experience came from a situation involving a girlfriend and peanut butter -- details left to the imagination:).

Good that you didn’t scratch focusing screen taking it out and cleaning it with Eclipse and microfiber – because next time you probably will!
Do not touch focusing screen with anything other than blast of air from the blower.

You can run them under distilled water and let them air dry - but you are correct. Don't touch them or you can whack the texturing (for lack of a better word) that makes them work.

I was in the same boat with my 5D, I had heard of people talking about dust in the viewfinder but never saw threads like this one....Bought a precision focus screen for it and in the process blew out the dust.....It's sooooo much nicer not looking through the destracting dustfield that was my 5D:) It was like a revelation!

As i have said there is two sides to the screen. The side which is facing down towards the mirror when sat in the frame is the glass side, and that is the side i cleaned(with no trouble).BUT the other side is where the focus point markings are inprinted and its sort of ruff, I DID NOT clean that side.

At the end of the day i have already done the cleaning on it so why keep telling me not to do it .

jdizzle - The cam is awesome .BUT you can't use it straight out of the box, as everything is in "standard", so some of the settings and custom settings nead to be set-up to your liking.Once done its awesome.

thatkatmat - Glad i'm not the only one

Glad to hear that this isn't that hard to do - I had ordered replacement focus screen but wasn't brave enough to try installing it yet.
