I dunno I don't think so. I tried this on my 12mm Rokinon and the single shot horizontal was much wider but probably most likely due to it's stereographic projection is the key helping factor. Much wider along the vertical/horizontal centerlines vs the canon/sigma/nikon equidistant equidistant style projections.

Diagonal shot is on bottom while normal shot is on top.

I wouldn't trust doing a diagonal crop on a fisheye lens just due to the way the distortion is present at the corners. You'd end up with some funky angles and it defeats the purpose of the fisheye. The Rokinon being stereographic makes for very pleasing landscapes when the horizontal centerline is centered with the horizon... I've seen some amazing shots... just crop to taste afterward but the fisheye look is non existent in nature shots this way.

Simple three shot pano with the X-PRO2 and 35/1.4
We just got soaked from a micro storm that hit fast and lasted for about 5 minutes. Then the sun shone and give us this:
