Eagle Eye,

I would say go ahead and settle on the 30D because it's a good camera and there's no need to think about a 20D since the 30D is now in bargain territory. Then relax, take a deep breath, and thing about a lens.

You say you want a good telephoto lens, which hobbiests want (as well as a macro lens!) so this might in fact be your toughest decision! Bargain lenses are low quality compared to "good" lenses, which will likely cost more than your priced-down 30D.

I'm just suggesting that you'll get a good deal these days on a great camera due to the next model being released and you are not accepting low quality. Thing about your lenses, and buy the best you can afford, because they will get the best out of not just the 30D but each body you upgrade to.

Just my thoughts!

Tony

I was kinda expecting something like SELL it all and buy the 5d

Sell it all & get a 5D. NOW.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. If you are going to keep something for a short time and then move on, I would suggest picking up a used 20D. By now it is close to the bottom of it's price cycle. Re-selling in a year or so, I don't think you would lose much money.

If you want the spot metering, then go for the 30D. You will lose a little more money, but not much.

I have a 20D, 1DMkIIN, 30D and 350D...the 20Dremains my favorite camera. I like its colors best, as well as its overall feel. Some places still sell new 20D's for a decent price.
