I was asked by a friend to take some shots for their wedding. I went nuts doing my best to capture the day. A few posed shots, but mostly just people having a good time. The reception was a hell of a party. The Uprite Dub Orchestra was their band, and they got that place moving!

Also, this was my first real photo opportunity with my new L glass. I'm stunned at the difference. Well worth the investment (artistically speaking, that is).

Anyway, I'd love some C&C if anyone has anything to offer. First the shots of the wedding:

You've done a great job! Fix up the white balance and they'll be fantastic. One image has really obvious flash, which i'm not a huge fan of, maybe making it warmer will help a bit.

Your day time shots are superb!

Did you drag the shutter in all of the reception shots? I think for a few it looks great, but sometimes it doesn't really add to the image e.g. R7.

Good work!

Great series...I like them.

W1, W5, and W8 are my favorites. I do see some WB issues which cause a yellow cast to some of your shots. I like the reception dance shots...I am a fan of "dragging the shutter" and I like the effect you achieved.

I hope you don't mind that I did a little PP to the first one...

IDL'd it, then PP and added it to my page...I'm new to this flkr stuff so let me know if that is okay. I am going to link it back to you as the owner. If there is another way to post what I did let me know.

I would add that I typically would add a fill light to the outdoor shots to pump up the color a bit and help eliminate the raccoon eyes and also give it more separation from the background.

The first few are great, I would put the last 7 in the recycling bin.

The wedding shots are really nice. In W7, though, the focus fell on his suit rather than on his face.

The reception ones, though ... ugh. I can't tell if you were attempting to drag the shutter with poor results, or just having to drop your shutter speed quite low to compensate for low lighting, thereby causing motion blur. In any case, it's been overused - most of these images would have been better WITHOUT the blur, and some of them I would have just tossed.

The wedding shots are nice - they're great as is and I'll leave it at that.

The reception shots w/ the dragged shutter and/or blur don't work for me - it induces a boozey /hazey feeling that would be better suited to shots of concerts, clubs, skateboarding etc. That, and the reception looks like a rap video... next time do whatever you can to better stop motion.
