apearance of Zoombrowser 4.0.2.112 rather pale

I just upgraded my Zoombrowser 3.0 to 4.02.112 and I must say the appearance on the screen is rather pale.
I did like the old version better.

Is it possible to change this f.i. by making the light grey background of the view window darker.

What exactly are the features of v.4 because actually I did not yet find any.
On the contrary I found one disadvantage namely I cannot specify the folder for the database like I could in v 3.

As a matter of fact I only use Zoombrowser because it saves the properties of the photos taken.

Is there any other (perhaps better) software which does this job.

All other file handling is done by ACDsee and my editor in Adobe PhotoShop.

Please excuse my English because I am out of practice for a long time.
I am a retired Dutch gentleman, using a Canon Powershot A30 which for what I do
(prints 10x15 cm) is a great camera, but on this forum I will not be saying anything new I assume.

Stephen, it appears that you made comments but did not ask any question. Maybe that is why you don't get many answers in reply.

Also, if your experience can't be repeated by others, then nobody will have any reply at all.

But let us forget the matter since I discovered new posibilities
and can do without Zoombrowser from now on.

Version 3.0 was not bad at all (version 2.0 frequently had dbase troubles.)
but when I batch-renamed files by ACSee I always had to refresh the dbase of Zoombrowser.

I also do mention here that the Dutch Photographic forum obviously doesnot accept any avatars at all.

It's not clear that it is a question without a question mark at the end.

Stephen, I think you have "long toes" as we say in Dutch (which are easily stepped on...). First, when you don't get an answer quickly to your question, you're "disappointed with this forum" and now you can't even take the slightest critique from other forum members.

First of all, remember that everybody in these forums is here voluntarily. Nobody gets paid for helping someone else out. You get answers from people who are willing to help others for free, because it's fun to "hang out" with fellow photographers. If you don't get an answer to your questions quickly, it doesn't mean people think they are stupid questions or that you don't "belong to the club" or that you did something wrong, or the other forum members are stupid. It's simply because others probably didn't notice the same things as you or don't know an answer. For example, I'm not using Zoombrowser so I couldn't answer your question. If I can't answer a question, I'm not going to post a reaction, because it will not help you if I answer "I don't know".

Second, remember that this is the Internet, in which you will meet lots and lots of different people, strangers of all kinds and types. People from different cultures, with different backgrounds. If someone makes a remark about your post, don't take it personally.

If you still decide to leave the forums, too bad. In my experience, the forums on this website are the most relaxed and friendliest I've found. There are other forums on other websites in which people are "trolling" (posting just to annoy others) a lot, in which people get insulted and called names and which are very unfriendly to newcomers who ask frequently asked questions.

Well said, Jesper. Anyone who doesn't find our forum among the friendliest and most helpful is probably looking for something that doesn't exist. I enjoy the 'long toes' reference....I've never heard that before.

The other side of this is that I really don't think we in the forum should comment on anyone's improper use of the English language. I admire anyone who speaks more than one language, and think they should be given a little latitude for improper grammar or punctuation.

Moreover, I liked the dancing banana.

I wasn't making fun of it.

Penguin: I wasn't necessarily talking about you. I don't pick fights with guys who hang out in websites dedicted to assault rifles. (AR15.com?)

do a forum search on the issue of 'breezebrowser'. There should be a lot of posts on that one.

It is a great little program that is free to try (limited version, you can only see 12 pictures per folder with it), if you want to use in permanently I think it's 20$ or such to register it and get an 'unlock' key.

It's a great and very versatile program.
In addition, it's a joy to use (which - in my opinion - definitely can NOT be said about Zoombrowser, Canon's very successful try to take the fun out of their otherwise great cameras).

I still download my pictures with Zoombrowser (not supported by Breezebrowser), but do the organizing, RAW conversion (batch mode!) and viewing only with breezebrowser.
