I am going to strangle HUEY!!!

What should I do? I have Huey out reading the light but monitor is changing all the time. Dark - light -Dark - light ...... Just when I think my picture is good my monitor get darker and I am no longer satisfied. Does any one use the light reading part or should I say bad Huey and put him in the drawer?

I always use the room light reader. If your screen in constantly changing maybe the light in the room is also changing which isn't a good thing. I always do the same thing, close the blinds and turn on a certain light so that the light is constant.

Question: Has the Huey to be connected to the computer all the time for "adjusting"?

I set my Spider on the monitor, calibrate, remove the Spider from the computer and that's it.

Hey Gert... Yes you calibrate your monitor with the huey and then you keep it plugged all the time so it can read the light every couple minutes or so.

ok... I watched it. This is what it is doing. Huey reads and my monitor looks nice and bright and then after a minute my monitor get about almost a whole stop darker and then Huey reads again and it changes back to light. Now when it changes from light to dark Huey did not read. This is driving me crazy. Maybe I should re-calibrate and see what happens?

what kind of monitor are you using?

A TFT (a flat screen monitor) or a CRT (bulky with the heavy glass tube) ?

If it's a CRT, then it might be possible that the monitor is damaged and pumping light. With aging this can happen.

If you don't have the HUEY connected, does it pump too?

I never turn on the auto adjusting for room light. That would drive me nuts. Just use consistent lighting in your work area and you should be good. It might be positioned so it's reading some of the light off your screen and trying to adjust to that. Are you editing in a very dark room? Is the huey pointed towards to the screen, even a tiny bit?

Thanks guys. No, the light in the room is not consistent. It is my bedroom. I recalibrated and I have not had the problem. I wonder if it was reading the monitor like lloyd said.

I did have my husband come and cover some windows. I will try to get it more consistent.

I use the huey as well but I turn off room lighting compensation and try to recreate the same lighting when I edit each time.
