Car Shows and Blown Highlights??

I do a lot of car shows. When it is sunny I use a CP filter and it seems to work pretty well most of the time. But when it is overcast I expose for the car and the sky and some other parts get blown out, sometimes along with the roof of the cars.

Would the CP filter help on overcast days?

How about a grad nd filter? Or would that be to much hassle at a car show? Anybody else tried this?

Or anything else?

Thanks

The CP is going to reduce exposure across the board, not just int he highlights. The grad will work, if you can find a good horizontal location in your picture to put it. Moving around at a car show won't be as easy as doing it with a tripod.

Your best bet is to trust your histogram, expose to the right without clipping and tweak your shots for final exposure levels in PP.

Try a soft GND and align it so it comes slightly below the horizon. Or try taking bracketed shots and combine the blowen out bits later in PS.
