Haven't posted in a while, thought I would share some images from the weekend match. I shot these into the sun just for practice. No photoshoping, just conversion in Aperature from RAW. I still need to tweak my conversion of back lit shots. Cheers.

Mark - You've captured some great action and I like the crops except in #s 6 and 7 where you chopped off arms/hands ;). Since you've done no PS, I assume you want us to see what you got straight from the camera. IMO you need to overexpose highlights even more so that you get better details in shadows then in your PS workflow tweak levels just before USM. This should make them pop.

Jerry ~ Baseball is a game where only defensive players handle the ball and offensive players who hit successfully in only one third of their at bats are among the best in the sport.

ditto fsl -on overexposing the highlights. When in a backlit situation you will need to overexpose to bring out the details in the shadows and get more pop with the colors and skin tones

agreed - I used to process shots up for POTN display, but I don't even have PS on my machine anymore. All the people I shoot for wanted raw files, so that is what they get. I just ran these through the export utility in Aperture. Unfortunately as well the shots with the cut off limbs were shot that way. The only cropping I did was take them to a 5x7 format getting rid of the extra on the top and bottom. I shot these a little too tight. Looks like I will have to crank up the old PC that does have PS on it and see what I can come up with.

USM = Unsharp Mask. It's a filter contained in many image editing software products like Photoshop that adds sharpness to images. Most folks find the great majority if not all digital images need a bit of USM as a final step in the post processing workflow.
