I use the Epson R800 for CDs, 8x10, 5x7s, and 4x6s. It prints well with glossy or matte papers. It has 8 print heads one of which is a glossy coating for printing with glossy papers...to make them smudge and water proof. Ink cartridges are $14 each and can print up to 50+ 8x10s depending on the density and variety of colors.

I have a Canon Pixma Pro9000 and find the resulting prints to be quite acceptable...maybe as much as 90% of lab prints.

I just ordered the Canon Pixma IP4500 from new egg. It should be here by the end of the week. I also ordered 100 DVD+R's with a printable surface. I think my clients will like the new level of quality.

Epson has a 590 and a 690 out - anyone know the difference? The cost difference is minimal. Having a photocopier would be really handy.

Canon also has prints like the MP830, which have duplex (print on both sides of the page) and a fax machine in them, they cost a little more though. Anyone have experience with these?

Buy a new one. Even the multifunction devices are cheap, so cheap you'd never repair them they're throwaway items. Plus I don't have the space for multiple devices.

How is the Canon printer working? I now have to upgrade and need ideas.

Its been working great. I purchased the CD tray off ebay and programmed the printer to use it. I'm very happy with the results so far. I would never do prints with the printer because the colors are not exact. I think its a great little machine for the price.

I'm not a fan of Espon, I love my HP 5650 I know its a bit old, but I have it set up so that the prints look exactly as they do on screen. Although it cost me a fortune to replace with HP inks. I use it for family prints etc. for everything else I use labs.

I have Canon Pixma MP960 and I love it. Although it might not qualify as wedding photo prints, the output rival those printed by adoramapix, and the color is pretty acurate (red tone can be difficult to match sometimes.) I also use this to scan 35mm film.

Another thing is you have to use Canon paper to get better result, and this one doesn't print directly onto disc.

I heard that Canon printers (especially those that uses 7 or more cartridges) consume less ink than Espson/HP. But I agree that Epson (hi-end) printers do deliver impressive images (my brother has RX800 and it's quite good.) I also heard that Epson R800 is very good for photo printing too.
