Funny you should exclude the pros, I was at a meeting of about 25 professionals where the speaker was a name brand photographer. Someone suggested we should have a group shot with him. One problem, none of us had a camera.:)

that's funny.

I'm a packrat so it's not feasible for me to always have my camera with me.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

That is a pretty funny story. I bet you all had a laugh about that one.

I would if the lenses were shorter. I'm thinking of getting a point and shoot for my pocket.

Probably 95% of the time I carry a SD 630 P&S pocket camera.

tony

This makes me sad :-( I use to carry my 630 everywhere with me but then a friend decided that he wanted to try to take a picture up a girls skirt in a bar while we were on a bachelor party and he dropped it on the lens. Now it's dead....

I bring my camera to work with me everyday. I've gotten a lot of decent shots along the way as well. ;)

Mainly specific events, When I am on vacation it is with me probably 80% of the time :)

It is a pain to haul my setup everywhere with me (and I even have a tiny setup compared to some!).

I usually only take my camera with me when part of the purpose of that particular trip is for shooting.

Otherwise, the way I spend my life (9-5, weekends shopping...:() I don't need it with me.
