I went out tonight and took a few ISO 1600 shots with my 1DIIN and noticed that I have 2 red pixels, a blue pixel, and a green pixel appearing in the same spot of every shot. A bit underexposed.

These dots did not appear in this weekend's ISO 1600 properly exposed hockey shots.

I've heard of dead red pixels but never blue and green pixels appearing. Does anyone know what causes these? I haven't had a chance to test out under what conditions they do/don't appear yet.

I would guess that they are 'hot' pixels. You would most likely get the same result by taking a 30sec exposure with the lens cap on. You should try that and see if you have any hot pixels. I don't know if there is any real 'fix' for them, but just knowing that they are there might be useful.

If you're taking long exposures, you'll generally get hot or dead pixels showing up - and by "long" we're talking anything much over 1 sec. If you have a problem with them in the "normal" (1/30 sec. and faster) shutter speeds, you have a problem; if you're in long exposures, it's the rare camera that doesn't have them.

I've had grey blue green red purple turquiose and others across the gamut. I agree with what Jon said about the length of the exposure. Mine always shows during 20+ sec exposures only, which is usually normal with the heat in Florida. They should not show up on average speed exposures though.
