I'm looking at getting a monopod for my 70-200 f2.8L and 40D combo, possibly used with a 1.4x or 2x TC.

Here's what I've found:

Anything that makes this a bad choice? It appears light, capable of carrying the weight, cheap, and compact enough. Suggestions/warnings/encouragement would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's a great monopod for my 70-200. Inexpensive and well built.

Thats actually very helpful toneyw. Thanks. Do you use it with a ballhead or stand-alone?

If you can spend a little extra($13) I'd go for the 679B model, it'll support more than double the weight and in that you may be future proofing yourself if you get heavier glass.

Lol, I've got four monos at the moment, 2 really crappy, one decent CF, and lastly the 679B.

Good luck with your choice.

Christian.

Since I only use it for my 70-200, I don't have a ballhead. I find that if I loosen the collar mount on the lens, I can change to portrait faster.

I have the exact monopod myself, its nice and light but very sturdy when it matters. Its also handy as a walking stick when on long hikes. Easily handles my 100-400L too. :D
