Yesterday I was experimenting with the new 40D and AEB. I noticed that when I focused and held the shutter release at the halfway point that I was hearing a noise like a frying or sizzling sound. I was using the 28-135 kit lens. I repeated focusing several times, maybe 10 or more, and each time as I held focus I heard the noise. I did not try either of my other lens only the kit lens.

Tonight I decided to try again and the frying noise was gone. I tried my 10-22 and my 100-400 and neither made any frying sounds.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I guess if I don't hear it again I shouldn't worry about it but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else. I have had the camera for a month now and this is the only time it has happened.

This is why you don't take macro shots of food in the frying pan :)

Anyways, no I can't recall hearing sizzling sounds from any of my lenses before... I know the IS makes some noise. (I don't have the 28-135 so I'm not sure what it sounds like) maybe it was something related to IS?

Sounds like maybe the IS? But your 1-4 should have the same, so I'm not sure....

The only thing I can equate to a sizzling sound is when the flash strobes to provide some light to help with autfocusing. I've only experienced this on a 350D, so I don't know if the 40D does the same thing.
