I would more then likely use the 10D for the night time sports shots. How would the IQ be from the 10D to 1D in studio, and out door portrature??

How would the IQ be from the 10D to 1D in studio, and out door portrature?? With good light 1D would rule over 10D because the pixel size is much larger than the 10D's. 1D also has a thinner AA filter which yields sharper images. For night time *sports*, I would still take a 1D over a 10D. Noise is almost similar. Ellery Bann

It's ISO isn't the strongest but if you nail exposure it's not unusable. The speed compensates for any noise you'd normally object to. Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here

I shoot 40% portrature, 40% commerical, 15% wildlife, and 5% grandkids night time sports. I am really leaning towards 1D also, how do the 2 compare in those areas?? Let me share my experience. I had a D30 and was very happy with it until I wanted larger prints. Sold it and got the 10D. That was a perfect match to my 420EX. Now with kids doing sports, I needed something faster... found a cheap 1D and was very happy with it (sold my 10D). I also shoot ballet (my daughter's) in dark environment and the 1D was lacking a bit and I thought the 1D2 would be a perfect blend of 1D+10D. Sold the 1D and got a 1D2. I was extremely happy and found a perfect body. Over time, the weight just got to me... I also wanted something smaller and lighter for trips and weddings (without looking like the hired pro). I wished I hadn't sold my 10D. Bottom line: I just bought another 1D, gonna sell my 1D2, and buy a 5D or some other gripless body. Like people say, different body for different needs. Hope it helps. I might even take it and get a cheapo XT for the price of my 1D2! ($850 x 2 + $250) is still less than my 1D2! Ellery Bann

I sent him software and found them higher (10000+) so tried to tweak it back a bit. Didn't go over well and once things become less friendly I don't pursue further on a deal that would require MO or cashier's check to go first no matter what ratings are. My Stuff

Oct 26, 2007 10:14 | #40 I would have been happy to pay a couple hundred extra to try a very nice body over the course of 6-12 months. The owner kept quoting prices at KLH and local camera stores in the $1300-1350 range. Nothing I've seen sold here in ANY condition has been more than $950 recently. It's not a big deal as we all have that number that we think our stuff is worth and a lot of times it's more than what others think, especially when they're trying to buy it. My Stuff

Oct 26, 2007 10:27 | #43 Big difference in actuations and usage. Given that some have had shutter failures reported here at 42k actuations under hard 8.3 fps usage I'd rather not get something that might need a little extra spending at Canon Service. My Stuff
