If you are getting sharp images with your Peleng please enlighten me as to how you are using this camera on your Canon. I have the mounts in the picture below.

As you can see the T mount on the left, the M42 to EOS mount and another I don't know where that came from mount. It seems that I have to use the mount on the right with the EOS mount to get this thing on my camera since the EOS mount does not fit the Peleng by itself. Is this what everyone was referring to when they said the T mount was too big? Using the EOS and the other mount together is almost as thick as using the T mount. Is there an EOS mount that will fit the Peleng on it's own? This current setup does get a little bit closer to the sensor but I was expecting much closer because of what everyone was saying. No one mentioned this extra mount in addition to the M42 to EOS mount.

Thanks in advance. Pictures of your setup is welcome. SEV I am hoping that you can post a picture of how you mount this lens on your camera. Thank you.

- Andrew

right on your peleng you should have a thread mount that is held on with 3 little screws it should sit back on the lense so that when u put the middle mount on that is slightly (And i mean slightly) sat back from the rear filter (you need the rear filter in to focus properly)

Is it possible for you to post a few pictures of what you rreferring to. The thread mount you are referring to ...is that on the right in the picture above? It is only a thread mount and cannot be used to mount on any camera.

You have two choices: The dedicated EOS mount (left hand one) directly on the lens, OR the M42 (right one) screwed into the the M42 to EOS adapter (middle one).

But I don't know which is the better setup.

The peleng bare is a T mount lens.
The 2 dark rings are adapters from T mount. One is T->EOS (left) the other seems like a T->M42 (right).
You should be getting sharp images with the T->EOS provided you focused properly. I found it very hard to judge with the naked eye if the lens is focused on the subject or not.

You M42->EOS adapter (center) is a simple one, with no AF confirm chip.
In that respect it doesn't help you.

I got it working with an M42->EOS adapter which does have the AF confirm chip and it is much easier to get if focus properly.

Hope it helps,

Erez

Thank you all for your responses.

I am assuming you are also using a T->M42 then using the M42->EOS with AF confirm, am I correct? Is there a T->EOS with AF confirm?

BTW I looked through you pictures on pbase. Nice!

Yup: T->M42 and then M42->EOS.
No, there is no t->eos with af confirm.
You can buy just the chip on ebay (ericc1006 sells them) and try to glue it to the adapter. it could get a little tricky though.

so if you have the original Tmount, there is really no need to replace it unless you want AF confirm.

and if you want AF confirm you need M42-eos(with chip) and Tmount-M42 converters.
