My budget is always dominating my decisions now
Just wondering if this is TOO wide for the 5. Any example photos would be great too.
Peace out!

I had originally bought it for the 1DmII figuring I'd keep it once I went FF, but 12mm was too wide (I'd always shoot at 12mm, then images would need to be cropped once I got them home) and it's not as sharp as what I replaced it with (17-40mm L). It's a great lens on a 1.3, and it works well on FF I just wanted sharper images and realized I was using 12mm too much because it was there. My Gear List

adamlc wrote in post #4178060 Thanks for the gallery Jacobsen1 I think they're great shots, I can't tell any softness because of the size though. The prespective is perfect for what I want, I read a bit about the sharpness of this lens. If it's not sharp enough then I'll get it callibrated... if that doesn't work then I'll think of something else. On the whole, I'll probably end up buying this lens. Thanks again for the examples, top man! no worries. It's a great lens. Some people say I had a very good copy. It wasn't perfectly sharp and it had a yellow cast to it. Nothing a little PP won't fix, but I wanted a sharper lens, and that's what I got. Also consider the 17-40mm L for the same money. My Gear List

It's also a better range for a walk around for me on the 5D. Before I'd be swapping between the 12-24 and the 24-70 all the time as the 12-24 is ONLY a UWA. Now with the 17-40mm it lives on my 5D75% of the time and I love it... I also picked up a 15mm FE for when I need wider than 17mm. It's better than the 12mm for me because the 12mm was too wide for normal shooting. The FE perspective makes me use it when it works, but not all the time. It was a better solution for me, but try both if you can. My Gear List
