I use "Bcap" mode ... it's a proprietary blend of great looks, charming personality and quick fingers. It works well.

Av outside where the light is vastly different from one spot to the next, facing one direction or the other, unless I'm in a situation where I can take my time. M in more constant light. M for studio.

Always M when I use a flash because I can't figure out how to use ETTL and I don't understand FEC yet, so I just put camera and flash both in Manual.

Green box on speedlight flash.

M on my studio flash..

M in predictable light (dull days and indoors)
A or P in quickly changing light (outdoors, bright days)
M always for flash work.

You bought a camera that is able to interpret data it takes in. This data is not always the data you want it to be using.

M most of the times, and Av occasionally (especially with variable aperture zoom lenses).

M indoors (85% of the time) and under constant light outdoors. Av at all other times.

Phew, what a relief. I thought you all used manual all the time and that going to av sometimes was my own personal shame.

I use Manual 99% of the time.

The odd time I might use P... when I go from inside to outside and see something happening and don't have enough time to dial in the correct settings before missing the moment. Then I switch to P just to get the shot. Then switch back.

I also use Tv when I want to have motion blur in my photos.

other than that... M all the way baby!

P or AV or TV or even 'Green', whatever works.
Not very good at 'M' yet, especially when things (not lights) are happening very fast.
