I've searched the forums but I haven't come up with any feedback on the MACK warranties. Has anyone actually used one to get any repair or sensor cleaning?

I have an option to either return my grey market 40D, or I could get a free 3-year MACK warranty on it. I'm thinking that the 3 year warranty seems pretty good, what do you guys think i should do?

I'd be interested in any experience as well. I've seen a couple places offer the MACK warranty & I also checked out MACK's website. They seem to be a national electronics repair business. It looks like they perform the repairs themselves, but they may send stuff to Canon as well (can't tell from their site).

I've heard more bad than good about Mack warranties. Remember, they're out to make a good profit, Canon wants a satisfied customer.

hmmm. that's a good point, MACK doesn't care as much as Canon.

Nobody could answer that without knowing why you are thinking of returning your 40D? Does it need repairing or the sensor cleaned? Is someone offering you a free MACK warranty 'just-in-case' or one instead of a repair?

And Canon would be happy to make nice lenses for no profit just as long as we were all happy??

Maybe, maybe not. Bit of a flawed assumption though based on one person's second hand experience wouldn't you say?

I think that you mind is made up against the MACK warranty and if that's the case I would return the 40D (for whatever reason), you are never going to have confidence in the warranty.
