My second wedding snuck up on me pretty quick. It's next weekend and I'm looking to possibly rent a lens for this occasion.

I'm about to order a tripod and flash. But I wanted something sharper than my 50 f/1.8 and faster than my 70-200 f/2.8. I've heard some fantastic things about the 85 f/1.2 for weddings.

Should I go ahead and rent the 85L for my 5D? Or another lens?

The 85L is a little slow to focus from what I've read. The 1.8 is a great lens for weddings and so is the 50 1.4.

The Mark II 85L f/1.2 is supposed to be ever so slightly faster for Auto Focus than the Mark I version.

The 85L 1.2 is STILL going to be a great lens for wedding photos just not for any fast action where the AF may not keep up (it's not a sports lens). It's a portrait lens. I'd be more worried about the RAZOR thin DOF than the auto focus personally (good when you want Razor thin but bad if you hit the wrong focus).

85mm 1.2 II is absolutely amazing, spectacular lens. I have to wrestle it out of people's hands when they return it. Of all the people who have tried it, not a single one has had regrets or lack of wishing to buy one. Let me know if you need it for the weekend. We can get it to you.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid I'll enjoy it a little too much. Markol, the wedding is next weekend and I was checking some rental sites out yesterday--looking for yours. Now that I found it, if I do decide to rent I'll come to you guys; I just need to check my financial situation. Thanks.

What you have so far is A-OK! The only one I would miss not having is the 24-70L
