I think it is a great opportunity for me. I am very appreciative that my buddy and his future neice are letting me do this. My only real expectation that I have set for this is to learn as much as I can about the process. Other than that, I am just there to have fun.

Thats how I felt at my nieces wedding I hung out with the photographer a super nice guy ..and did my own thing .Here is a shot from my experiance .
I had to just shoot from my position I was in ..but I liked this one ~

So, this Friday I am going to my buddy's wedding. He already has a photographer (his future wife's neice). I have never shot a wedding before, so I am going to work with the photographer (on a non-interference basis) just to see what it's all about. I wouldn't feel comfortable as a primary photographer due to my lack of experience with wedding photography (I mainly shoot sports, motorcycles and my family/friends), but to have the ability to take photos with no expectation to produce anything at the end is very comforting. Even if I only get a couple of good shots, it's not a big deal. This is a learning experience for me. I truly looking forward to it and hope that I can pick up some tips that will help me. As a bonus for my buddy, anything that turns out decent I will give them a copy of. Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Be ready to move! Weddings are FAST! Mostly, relax, have fun and shoot what feels right.
Lisa (Permagrin) and Cat are our resident wedding photogs, so they may have some tips for you.
I only shoot weddings under duress

Ooooh! Mark, you shoot motorsports? A panning shot of the bride coming down the aisle :) That would be fun

Candids always go down well. Shoot the reaction of guests while the important stuff is going on (pro will be concentrating on the main action, do don't bother with them). Mums with tears in their eyes, page-boys yawning or fooling about, that kinda stuff.

Try sitting on the floor and shooting kids at their own level, engage with them and try and get them acting up for the camera.

The pro will generally leave after the first dance, so shoot after that, when people are starting to relax and have a good time.

:lol::lol: I have verified I apparently eat under duress. I have not had one snack craving all morning. At the office I'm ready to break open the snack machine by 9:00 AM and eat everything it contains.

Lonnie, bring your laundry over, I'm on my 3rd wash load, what's a couple more? I'm even re-washing items that have been on my ironing board for...

...well it is too embarressing:o to say how long. I'm planning to iron them this time when they come out of the dryer.

Hmmmm, wonder what I'll do tomorrow and Wednesday? LIGHT TENT TIME!!!:D

So sad... This must be the most depressing thread I've read in a long time.

Biting my tongue about replying to it, but it'll only add petrol to a fire that's already burning out of control.

I really appreciate the sage advise and will keep this in mind throughout the wedding. I will let you guys know how it went after it happens.

Prayers coming your way. Let us know when the surgery is scheduled.
