Sorry to hear about Andy's medical troubles, Deb. I hope everything comes out good in the end.

I only shoot weddings under duress

Me too! The only way I'd consent to shoot a wedding would be if I could shoot under the dress!

Oh, wait... Forget I said that. :o :o

Lonnie, bring your laundry over, I'm on my 3rd wash load, what's a couple more?

Woohoo! I'm on my way!

I'm even re-washing items that have been on my ironing board for...

What's an ironing board?

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

That is sad, I think the die hards in the WF don't see how bad they really come across as, thinking they are somehow special. I agree they have specific needs and there is a uniquness in what they shoot, but that same thinking could be applied to many other types of photography too.

Landscape photographers can tell you about how rare certain events are... when they camp on a ridge for a week waiting for the light to hit just right - then it stays around for 5 seconds and then fades away...

Sports photographers need to capture "that play" or it will be gone forever - there are no "formals" in a football game - there are no reshoots. Capture it when it happens or not at all.

I don't think there's any problem with people taking their cameras to weddings either. Back then, though I didn't think I knew enough to be able to do that, plus I was there with Ali and it's unfair on her to be lugging about a big camera and go into "photo mode" when I should be enjoying the day.

Slightly ironic though that I was lugging around her handbag while she went off dancing....

It does wear on folks too, both spouses and friends. Unless it is a special occasion with friends or family, I usually put the camera away and join them in the fun.

I just hope the handbag did not clash with your outfit Pete. :)

I like to do both, so I am very familiar with both of these aspects. On the other hand, with wedding photography, this is "their day". I know how important photos can be to the couple and would not want to risk messing up something so important to them. I am much more comfortable hussling around with my cameras to get into a premo spot for sports and bikes. I also love getting up before the sun to get great photos of the landscape before the sun crests the horizon. It is a lot of work to be there and set up and ready for it, but the reward of seeing all that work put into action is awesome! It's more than worth it.

I really love the work that's in the Wedding Forum, there's lots of really talented people in there.

I'm used to the fact that there's photos shared in there, and they're often easy to spot.

I'm not too sure what the big deal is here. I think this latest one if because of simple misunderstanding and a sprinkling of egos in respect to the involvment in the POTN book.

My view is that the WF is a great place, there's no need to spread it about. If people want a WF section in a future edition of the book, I don't see any reason why they should be forced into conforming to the "sharing" section of the web site in order to be included.

I agree with you, Pete.

This is why pro wedding photogs get paid a lot and are so stressed about stuff. They need to be good enough to nail it first time around and do it well.

Heading off to my mom's to help her with her pictures. I've got the write up done on 4 of 9 book submissions. Tis a sad thing when I have to look at my own gear list to know exactly what my lenses are.

Whoa! You mean they get paid for taking pictures? Maybe I need to rethink my approach to this photography thing . . .
