Just to prove I've not abandoned shooting performing arts all together here are a few shots from last week. I was paid to shoot them twice since they have a different lead player on weekends and weekdays.

Shelly Lain is an accomplished Texas singer songwriter, the keyboard player was just a nut. I don't have one of him I'm posting but he is the master at crazy "guitar" face.

They performed on the Bud Light stage for 3 weeks, every day starting at 2:00pm and finishing at 9:00pm.

Anyway these was a bunch of fun....

Thanks John,

I've really been swamped and I don't see it easing up anytime soon. We just opened a new studio, I've got three major commercial projects I'm working on and shooting my last wedding of the year this weekend.....I've got 6 albums to design over the next 60 days!

I am sure they would have been much better, had I had an assistant!:p You know a good one?

It was quite the task to get the midway shot with people almost running us over and me having to lay on the ground. I wish I'd gotten the girl on the left to fill the gap and not stand so face on the camera. We had to literally run to get these shots in between sets.

Now that's one hard-workin' band!

Nice stuff, Chris. #2 is awesome and she really looks good. The sillouette shot doesn't do much for me but will be nice as part of a set.

I agree on the sillouette, it is not a stand alone image. It will work great in a slide show. The reason it is strong is because of having the "Cotton Bowl" in the background. It will help identify the gig.

I like the last, but some people stand a bit awkward.
Some nice live images as well.

I'm a good assistant (so I'm told)...

Travel expences will be a bit high though ;)

Thanks HighPixel,

I went to a thank you dinner last night where Shelly had a slide show of all the images, it was neat to sit back and see the reactions from the band members and families.

One of the band members made a big poster of #5 for Shelley, it was cool.

very unique set you've got here; nicely done. care to share what was done (both during the shoot and pp) in the two group shots?

really nice snaps. i particulaly like 5, nice n playful and lots of atmosphere. Is that ghosting around the left hand on the second one a photoshop job, or was that just hand movement, it leaped out and distracted me a tad.

I'm pretty certain it is movement even though the shutter speed was pretty quick. I'll post the setup later this weekend....off to a shoot.
