Croasdail making stuff up More info | Oct 26, 2007 07:53 | #33 DocFrankenstein wrote in post #4193558 I'm with dragos and croasdail on this one. I also beleive sony will give the world a full frame SLR soon too and the prices will fall. I can't say I got bad value from canon though. Refurb 300D, kit lens, 50/1.8 and 35/2 is all I have... the grip too.

I don’t believe that the issue at hand is an exodus from the Canon camp. Most have way too much invested to do so. But there are lots of new folks looking to move from a P/S to a SLR. For those interested in low noise and IQ the choice at one time was simple, Canon. For those interested in full frame again the choice was simple, Canon. But this year, both those crowns are being challenged and very aggressively. In the entry level market, Canon still holds the lead as neither the D40/D70/D80/D100 can match the XTi in high ISO performance but that too will change as Sony and Nikon start pushing their CMOS chips down to the entry level cameras. Both Nikon and Sony are offering some pretty nice glass. Not as much and varied as Canon but that can change as well. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Maybe we have reached the limits of what current sensor technology can deliver and something revolutionary will have to occur to take that next quantum leap. Maybe Canon has become too complacent satisfied with incremental changes but it’s clear that incremental changes will no longer suffice. I’m one who is hoping that Canon R/D have gotten the message and the next offerings from the Canon camp will be more than a few features and cosmetic changes. Both Nikon and Sony are offering some pretty nice glass. Not as much and varied as Canon but that can change as well. hmmm, I don't see many P/S users going straight to a D3 "In Photography, as in all arts, the quality of the human imagination is the only thing that counts - technique, and technical proficiency, mean nothing in themselves."
