when you set your studio up .. what do you use on the floor to make it higher for the kiddies ? or do you just lay them on the floor and really lower your camera ?

I am in the process of setting up a studio but this is just puzzling me so much on how to do it.

Also backdrops how wide are they, and where do you all buy them from ie local shops ?

The easiest way is put the kids on the floor, and lay on the ground, that's how I do it, then I don't need anything extra, and it's best for on location, which is what I do. For a studio you could probably build a box, but I wouldn't risk having babies falling off it. Backdrops depend on how big your subject is. I get all mine from B&H, and for babies I just get 40x60", for toddlers usually 53" wide and 12 yards long. Hope that helps :)

I shoot in my unfinished basement, laying would be painful for me with the cement floor. I use a futon in the open position for photographing my son. This gets him up to about 18" high and allows me to be in a comfortable position while shooting him.
