I'd have a little bit of a problem with a forum that allowed a moderator to arbitrarily close my account without contacting me first regarding the rule violation. I don't think I'd ask for my membership to be refunded and I wouldn't return to the forum.

I had a similar situation occur on another forum after I criticized the way they were using feeds to provide content for their site. They gave no indication they were using feeds from other websites and it looked like they were posting other site reviews without quoting them or giving proper credit. One of their moderators arbitrarily locked my account so I couldn't post or make PM's. I contacted them by another route and asked that my information be removed completely. I won't deal with people that are that heavy handed and I recommend you don't either.

They really aren''t "heavy handed" as you describe, but they do expect people to follow the forum rules, and they won't tolerate a lack of professionalism. It's a much different atmosphere there.

Still Liza, it sounds as though a heavy-handed overzealous mod was a little quick on the premature draw here. He didn't even ask the member if he was a dealer. He assumed and banned without proper justification or proof. Over two days later, the member is still disbarred from the site and that just spells poor management.

Then we'll just have to agree to disagree. Personally, I enjoy the site and don't find the mods at all unreasonable. Keep in mind that we don't know Mark's side of the story. ;)

I'm with Liza on this one - I'd love to hear both sides. DWF has been one of the most valuable things I have done for my business. I've been there for 2.5 years and have never heard of someone being banned randomly...

I'm very surprised that Jeff hasn't fixed this error yet, I told him about it a day or two ago.

And it's probably THE most valuable thing I've ever done for mine. The quality of the images posted, the excellent real-world business information, and the atmosphere of true professionalism are all absolutely priceless for anyone serious about making a career of wedding photography.

I'm relieved to hear that Bubble.

I guess part of the delay was due to the weekend ... I've picked up in my brief time there that admin type stuff gets done on weekdays ...
