30D LCD Screen Protecter

Has anyone replaced the clear cover on the LCD on a 30D? If so how much?

Hi I am new to this forum and photography but do have some useful info for you. I got my 30D in June and ordered a "INVISIBLE SHIELD" from www.shieldzone.com It was $11.95 came with a pre fitted piece for the LCD screen and the small window on top. I am more than happy with it. By the way other post say that the 30 D has a cover on already ? I have not noticed it on mine or my friends. Free shipping on the above too ! Good luck Anthony

Hi Mike,

Did you scratch the plastic? or are you worried about scratching it? Personally, I've never scratched mine and I rarely pay too much attention to it other than the normal care I give my gear. I'm actually surprised that something so exposed has not been scratched but I haven't felt the need to cover it.

You can replace the LCD cover very easily if it ever does get scratched. They cost about $7 and all you need is a hair dryer and a suction cup. The 20D LCD part number is CB3-1831-000 and I’m not sure what the 30D part # is but I am sure a call to Canon can solve this pretty quickly.

Like several others have noted - the Canon screen cover's pretty hard to scratch and cheap to replace. The most I've seen quoted for them is around $20 US. None of my screen covers have suffered any damage, despite the belt buckles they constantly bang against. OTOH, the bottom edges of my bodies are worn through to white.

Ok heres what happend, Ihad a qitzo glass cover on it which is the same one Ihave on my 5D (which I hope doesn't shatter also) and it cracked. (not the Cameras cover but theafter market one) and in trying to get it off (which is a pain in the roayal ass) i scratched the factory cover. I will look around and try to order a new one. The LCD "screen" you see on the back of the camera is actually a built-in clear cover on the LCD screen.

I don't have a protector on the protector, and I only keep my pants up with a belt - haven't resorted to suspenders too.

When the heck did suspenders become cool. I see so many at work walking around with suspenders. Dang, when I was a kid only grandpa wore suspenders.

Nah, to be really cool, you need a slide rule case (with the slide rule in it, of course) hanging from your belt while using the pocket protector and the glasses.

I still have my Post Versatrig complete with the black leather case (that has the belt loop).

Yikes!!! Now that's ancient. I do remember those giant slide rules we had in school though. Even had a class in its use but I don't think I could do anything with it any more.

i can top that - I still have and can use 2 K&E's (as spares when the calculator's off). And hex and decimal abaci.
