Should one expand the ISO on a Canon 5D camera using the custom setting C.Fn-08 thereby enabling the ISO 50 and ISO 3200 setting.
Why does Canon not have it expanded in the first place, after expanding will it affect any other setting ? Thanks
Darryl

Yes, there's no harm in it although it's been reported that ISO 50 loses some dynamic range, and ISO 3200 is of course more noisy.

This doesn't affect other settings.

I think the reason why it's not expanded by default is that they are no "real" ISO values, ISO Hi is just ISO 1600 underexposed a stop and taken back in software, opposite for ISO Low. So you can probably achieve the same effect (possibly even better) by over/underexposing yourself and fix in e.g. PS.

Thanks guys, suppose one is shooting in bright outdoor light, will ISO 50 setting bring about a more vibrant colour and less noise if enlarged to a poster or billboard size ?

vs. ISO 100? No, but quite possibly worse IQ instead.

Yes a reason to use ISO "50" instead of 100 would rather be if you want a long shutterspeed and you don't want/can't stop down more.

None of them are real. It's all an electronics trick.
