I have the 5D and the 30D and am considering selling the 30D to finance some new glass. Its nice having a spare body "just in case" but the "just in case" never seams to happen and I have pretty good insurance on everything. I know that the day after I sold the 30D my 5D would pack up or get dropped or stolen or ...... so should I keep the 30D?

How many of you survive on just one body?

If I was to sell the 30D and exist with one body sould I sell both and get the 1D III?

are you a pro? if you are I would keep two bodies. I think most hobbyists have just one body.

Can't do it for business - the risk is too high - and I won't do it for my personal shooting. :) Some here have a DSLR backed up with an advanced P&S for their personal use, though. That seems like a happy medium.

I always carry a second body. While out and about this summer I was glad I did. I had to use it for a few weeks.

I am not a Pro but I decided to get a second body. I like the idea of having the 100-400 on one of them for the type of shooting I end up doing. Walking around in the woods etc... is it nice to be able to go from a short to long without missing the shot while changing lenses.

An other body, of the opposite sex, is probably even better than an other camera body, aye? :D

2 SLRs personally, and I'm trying to decide on a P&S. Ironically, at work I just have a single one, but I also have a slew of P&S cameras rattling around.

I had one 20D only including when I shot a lot of paid work - but always borrowed friends gear (Kiwi POTN'ers, are generous :))

I've since got a second body, but for travelling to take back good quality memories

Ed, are you talking about dpreview and potn crowd? even there I bet its not 50-50, and I would bet in the general population its more like 90-10. I think most of those who own two bodies, have upgraded their first body, and have not gotten around to, or have not found it worthwhile to sell their second cam
