I have 2+ dSLR's.
Had one 10D and bought a 2nd/backup and then the shutter went on the older one. Decided to get it fixed and before I got it back decided to splurge for a 5D. Then I had the older/fixed 10D converted to IR. So now I have a 5D, a 10D which usually has the 100-400 L IS on it most of the time and an IR 10D which I am finding VERY addicting to use and play with ... went out the other day to shoot some Autumn foliage, shot 160 IR shots and only 23 foliage! LOL!

I'm a hobbyist and i find having two bodies quite useful as it eliminates changing lenses most of the time and that's quite a good thing ^_^

Exactly why I'm considering a second body, probably a 30D. I can have my walk-around (24-105)on the 5D, and the 100-400 on the 30D. Both cameras have identical controls so it's just a matter of flipping from one to the other as the situation requires, without having to waste time changing lenses. You probably lose the "right" moment by hesitating, not to mention letting in dust...

I have only one and it's back at Canon right now. :( I regret selling my 1Ds Mark I, that's why I'm looking at a second body as I type this. :D

I am a hobbyist and I have two but that is only because I upgraded to the 30D recently. I won't sell the 300D (not worth much now), it was a great starter for me. I'll probably upgrade to a FF at some point and will still keep my old cams.

Lenses are different though, if a "24-105 F2.8L IS" comes out then I will snap it up and sell the F4 one!!

I have the 20D and S3 still. I'm going to get another body here next year. Hopefully a 40D and my 20 will be my backup. I need them for the jobs of next year and for reasons stated before. I hate to be w/o a camera and I was for awhile after I sold my XT and got screwed on a 30D so I purchased the S3 for a good price. The S3 though is my concert camera for those times I'm just there to enjoy and they don't let me in with my pro camera. That's why I want and S5 so I can use my 430 and make shots really better.

I have 30D and 400D. The only reason is if I am out photographing in dusty areas( do a lot of work in Asia), then saves changing lenses out on the field. I know 400D has a dust removal system but I am taking a proactive approach to protect my cameras.

I'd say it depends on first what you have a passion to do and second, what can you afford? If you're pinching pennies, of course you want the one body, at a bargain price, that will do everything you need.

But you might reach a point -- a point of reckoning, in which you say, hey, I could buy this camera body for this but hold onto this camera for that...well, then you're screwed, I mean, what shall we say...you nave joined the club of the passionate and don't want or need to pinch pennies.

So, I have a 30D, which has served me well, I do mostly outdoor photography and as much wildlife as I can, but I wanted to excell in landscape photography as well, so I bought a 5D. Now I'm trying out my 5D in wildlife photography...am I a bad photo-person? I haven't used my 30D in a while, but I'm not rushed, because I'm not counting nickels and dimes...

Follow your passions and your needs, as you can afford! Many of us have more than one body, but that doesn't make a rule for you!
